As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
General Requirements
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal (unless explained in the Comments to the Editor).
Submit a single Microsoft Word document (not PDF) containing the title page, manuscript, and references. Do not embed figures or tables in the manuscript; these must be uploaded separately as supplemental documents.
The manuscript should be double-spaced

Abstract
All manuscripts must include an abstract, except for Short Communications, Editorials, SKINmages, and Compelling Comments.
Structured abstracts are preferred. If structured, abstracts should reflect the manuscript’s organization.
However, unstructured abstracts may be used for Brief Articles and Research Letters.

Figures
Mentions of figures in the manuscript must be bolded. Example: “(Figure 1)”
All figures must be submitted as separate attachments, including individual panels within multi-image figures. For example, if submitting Figure 1 with panels A, B, C, and D, each image should be uploaded separately and labeled as Figure 1A, Figure 1B, Figure 1C, and Figure 1D.

Do not end figure legends with a period.
References
References within the body of the text should be placed after punctuation as superscripted numbers (e.g., "...as previously described.¹").
References should be completed in AMA format
At a minimum, each reference should include:
Full article title in sentence case (capitalize only the first word and proper nouns)
Italicized name of the journal

Author Guidelines
All submissions should be clearly marked to include their article type and conform to guidelines set forth in the manuscript checklist. There are no fees that are required for manuscript processing and/or publishing. All authors must equally contribute to the submitted manuscript and are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes, in case of detection. A list of references must be provided for each manuscript as well as information on financial support (as necessary). Authors are forbidden to publish the same research in more than one journal. As an author, you may deposit a version of your article on an institutional or other repository of your choice, with a link to the published article on the journal’s website. There is no embargo period.

Clinical Management Recommendations (CMR)
Clinical Management Recommendations include expert consensus panels.

Brief Articles (BAR)
Brief articles should report on original investigations, unique clinical findings or interesting cases. These articles can include case reports. It is recommended that authors follow the CARE guidelines for case reports (https://www.care-statement.org/checklist)

Research Letters (RLET)
Research letters can include reports of concise original research and short literature reviews. Research letters must not duplicate other material published or submitted for publication. The format may vary but it is suggested to include the following sub-sections: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. If more appropriate, research letters may be submitted without sub-sections.

Short Communications (SCOM)
Short Communications include notable observations and opinions within dermatology or clinical practice.

A clinical picture of an interesting, unique, or rare dermatological observation with a brief description of the clinical case. Please highlight why this submission is essential to the journal’s readership and what can be learned from it.

Compelling Comments (COMP)
Compelling Comments are intended to provide historical notes, practice pearls, or humanity items which are relevant to dermatology. These rapid communications should be of interest to readers and provide new knowledge that may not be readily available in other journals.

Medical Education in Dermatology
Medical Education in Dermatology can include any topics related to the training or education of dermatologists. These can include residency and medical education practices, observations on novel training approaches or current practices in medical education and training.
Medical Education in Dermatology articles can be structured following the guidelines for either the Original Research (OA) Article Type or Brief (BAR) Article Type outlined above.
Social Media in Dermatology
This section highlights the role of digital platforms in dermatology, including professional education, patient engagement, public health messaging, practice building, and research dissemination. Submissions may include original investigations, case studies, innovative uses of social media, or commentary on emerging trends and challenges in the digital space. Authors are encouraged to provide practical insights and evidence-based observations that inform how dermatology professionals can responsibly and effectively use social media.

By PA/NPs for PA/NPs
This section highlights the voices and experiences of dermatology physician associates (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs). Submissions may be any article type listed in the journal (e.g., Original Research, In-Depth Review, Brief Article, etc.) and should provide research, clinical perspectives, or educational insights relevant to dermatology practice. Authors must clearly state in their cover letter that the submission is intended for this section and specify the article type (e.g., OA, IDR, BAR)
