Author Biography

Cory L. Simpson, University of Pennsylvania

I completed by MD and PhD at Northwestern University in Chicago with my doctoral thesis focused on the role of desmosomal cadherins in epidermal differentiation and skin disease. Following a medical internship through the University of Chicago, I completed my residency in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania through the physician-scientist track. I am currently a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at Penn with a specialty clinic focused on genetic and autoimmune blistering diseases. My laboratory research, funded by the NIH/NIAMS, uses advanced microscopy to better understand the cellular mechansims that drive keratinocyte differentiation and support epidermal homeostasis.
